NEPAL VOTES FOR A NEW FUTURE
11 April 2008
Voting has now closed in the landmark elections that are the culmination of the peace process in Nepal. There was a high turnout with the Nepalese people keen to vote for a new assembly, which will rewrite the constitution, and most likely abolish the Nepal’s centuries-old monarchy. Polling has generally been peaceful, and final results are expected to be announced in the next few weeks.

THE WORLD'S NEWEST DEMOCRACY
26 March 2008
The Bhutan Peace and Prosperity Party (Druk Phuensum Tshogpa) were the overwhelming winners of the first parliamentary elections, which took place in Bhutan on the 24th March. The well-organised election was a big success, turn-out was almost 80% with voters wearing traditional national dress.
The much-loved King will continue as head of state and the staunchly pro-monarchist new government remains committed to the Bhutanese philosophy of Gross National Happiness.

A GOOD YEAR FOR FUNDRAISING
29 February 2008
We are always incredibly impressed with the generosity of our clients and 2007 was no exception as we received almost £3,700 in donations to the various charities we support. Just over £2,000 was given for Northpoint School - our main Responsible Tourism initiative - whilst the Sir Edmund Hilary Trust, Global Action Nepal, the Gurkha Welfare Trust and the Nepali children's Trust all received generous donations. We were also able to donate smaller sums to other charities including the International Porter Protection Group, the Jimmy Roberts Fund, Kinoe and the Dental Project Peru.
A huge thank you to everyone who so kindly donated to these really deserving causes.
