If you are considering a Bhutan tour or trek, then Himalayan Kingdoms is the Himalayan specialist to make your trip to Bhutan, not just personally rewarding, but also respectful of this deeply spiritual and beautiful country.

We offer many options for your Bhutan tour or trek and, whatever your particular interest, you will find a trip to suit your needs. On all our treks and tours you will experience the impressive mountain and valley scenery of Bhutan and enjoy visits to religious and cultural centres. Many trips attend a Buddhist festival, often the highlight of a Bhutan tour, where you will experience the joyous celebrations of the Bhutanese people.

Whether you take a walking holiday along one of Bhutan’s ancient trade routes, trek in the high mountains, explore remote villages or take a tour of the main cultural centres and sights, a Bhutan tour or trek will take you to the heart of the Kingdom of the Thunder Dragon.

Cultural Highlights of Bhutan and Tibet – NEW FOR 2008

Our impressive new Tibet and Bhutan tour has it all – three Himalayan capitals, visits to some of the most important cultural and sacred places of the Himalaya and fabulous Himalayan landscapes.

Gentle Trekking Lodges & Hotels in Bhutan

Attend a Bhutanese festival and take delightful day walks to see villages, monasteries and important cultural sights whilst staying in comfortable lodges in the main towns of Bhutan.

The Chorten Path Trek

Witness the Paro Tsechu, the most important festival in the Bhutanese calendar, and trek along the ancient mule track connecting Bhutan’s main valleys and towns.

Definitive Cultural Tour of Bhutan

Our definitive Bhutan tour will give you a real insight into the cultural and spiritual life of the Bhutanese people. You will meet villagers and weavers in their homes, attend Buddhist festivals, visit impressive dzongs and travel right into Bhutan’s interior.

Mount Chomolhari Approach

Trek into remote mountainous country, crossing high passes to reach Mount Chomolhari base camp. Visit the Ha Valley and the main towns of Thimpu and Paro.

The Hidden Kingdom Trek

This trek has everything – remoteness, fantastic mountains, fascinating villages and impressive fortresses. You will pass through alpine forests and beneath the mountains of Chomolhari and Jichu Drake. You may see rare and exotic wildlife and meet the mountain tribes people in the high villages who see few visitors.

The Complete Lunana Snowman Trek

Trek the full length of Bhutan’s highest mountains across many high passes into the region of Lunana; the most remote district of Bhutan, where even the King has not ventured. A unique trek that very few westerners have ever completed.

Sacred Mountains, Secret Valleys

This trek takes you into the Dalgala mountain region, a wild and beautiful area, with great opportunities to explore rarely-visited mountains. At the beginning and end of the trek there are villages and remote temples to visit and, for the botanist, a diverse wealth of plants, flowers, forest and rhododendron.

The Old Smugglers' Route – Ha Valley

Taking this trek you will be amongst the first of a tiny handful of westerners to explore this beautiful, remote, unspoilt and uninhabited wilderness - redolent with supernatural myths and legends and stunning mountain scenery.

The Treasure Discoverer’s Trek – The Nabji Trail

We are delighted to be the first British company to offer this newly opened trek in the little visited central area of Bhutan. On trek you will visit remote villages in the Black mountains and enjoy the hospitality of the villagers en-route. This is the perfect trek for those who want a relatively low altitude trek in a remote, unspoilt area.

Christmas in Bhutan & The Black-Necked Cranes

Christmas is an ideal time to visit Bhutan and this trek takes you from the present day capital of Thimphu to Punakha where the monks move for winter. It is a tremendously varied trek through ‘chocolate box’ scenery of forests, mountains and villages. You will also see some of Bhutan's most important and impressive townships, and celebrate New Year’s Eve with a party in Punakha before flying back to Kathmandu.
